A message from El Presidente, Samuel Escobar (12:30pm Tuesday 2 April ,2020)-
Hello LMFC Family,
Hoping you and your families are well.
Myself and the rest of the committee wanted to provide a further update on the back of Football Federation Australia latest update and subsequently Football Queensland and Football Brisbane releasing their statements. We’re still working hard behind the scenes to keep the club sustainable, running seamlessly and maintaining our facility. We’re also using this unique situation to be innovative and discover potential opportunities for now and the future.
As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the current suspension of all sanctioned grassroots football competitions and associated training will continue and be reassessed by 30 June 2020 in Queensland.
Below are a few specific notes regarding the 2020 season taken from the statements from the governing bodies yesterday
- Football Brisbane and the 80 clubs remain united in our commitment to provide a season of football when the government restrictions allow us to do so
- Should this suspension (June 30) be relaxed earlier, Football Brisbane anticipates it will be able to begin competitions within three weeks of any reassessment date
- the proposed format of competitions are announced from 1 July to 30 November.
- Football Brisbane with input and feedback from the clubs have a range of different scenarios and potential plans in place depending on when a season could start. Some of the scenarios include- starting as late as September, finishing a season as late as November, 1 round season, no finals, mid week games etc.
IF the entire season was to be canceled due to a complete season not being able to be played, the club would then take advice from the governing bodies and work on a plan to make sure our LMFC family is looked after appropriately and fairly.
The committee has also decided to continue the pause on all registration payment plans and payments. If you would like your payment plan to continue or have any questions please contact the club secretary Elsa Yanes [email protected]
As a committee we will be encouraging our head coaches and coaching teams to come up with a plan to stay engaged and in communication with their teams so they can hit the ground running once and if the season restarts. So if you’re a player expect to hear from your coach soon.
We’ll regularly be updating our LMFC family via SMS and social media if anything changes. You can keep updated with the governments response here-
Thank you for your understanding, please follow all instructions from the relevant authorities and look after each other.
Please feel free to contact myself or any of the committee members if you have any questions or concerns
