Thank You Forbes 🏆

Championship winning coach Forbes Madau has advised the club that he won’t be continuing on as Head Coach in 2022.

Instead, Forbes will be moving into the newly created role of Junior Director of Coaching where he’ll create and oversee our junior development programs and coaches including ‘Komodo teams’ as well as rolling out the Football Queensland SAP Community Club model at LMFC.

In his time as Head Coach Forbes won the Capital League 1 Grand Final, made it to the semi finals of the Canale Cup and took us on a FFA cup run that saw us host NPL powerhouse club Lions FC at Compton Park which drew the biggest crowd the venue has ever seen!

Graham Fyfe, MSHS  Football Excellence Support Officer- “…We’ve got the facilities, the coaches, the programs,  the opportunities. But what I did notice was there was a lot of talented kids who couldn’t get to an NPL or local clubs for whatever reason, we want more kids touching the ball in good environments, It would be ideal for our kids to be at your club (LMFC), so outside of school they’re getting looked after. and when they’re at school they’re getting looked after”

Luis Melgar, LMFC Football Operations Manager- “We’ve been reflecting on the 10 years of the club (next year is our 10 year anniversary) , we’ve sat down recently on what’s next and part of that is our junior/youth base of the club. We got ourselves in a position of decent numbers in our MiniRoos and seniors. We’re now in a position to start to bring in some of these local kids through and give them access to club structure and creating good people through football.”

Club Statement

The Logan Metro FC committee would like to update everyone involved with the football club on the current situation with football in Queensland after today’s statements from Football Brisbane and Football Queensland.

As you may or may not be aware there is currently a dispute with the governing body who manages all the competitions (miniroos to senior teams) LMFC teams play in- Football Brisbane and the governing body who manages all football in Queensland -Football Queensland.

  • Football Queensland officially advised Football Brisbane today that of the view of Football Queensland that they (football Brisbane) are no longer members of Football Queensland.
  • Football Queensland provided assurances to clubs that referees, players and clubs will continue to be covered under the National Insurance Scheme.
  • Football Queensland sanctions all football across Queensland and advises that all training, games and football activities may proceed as normal and uninterrupted under the umbrella of Football Queensland.
  • Football Queensland will provide advice on competition management matters shortly.

What this means for your football club (Logan Metro FC) is that Training can continue for ALL LMFC teams as all clubs are directly affiliated to Football Australia and all participants are registered to Football Australia through Football Queensland so clubs will continue to be covered under the National Insurance Scheme.

We will put out another update (specifically on games this weekend) once we get information as promised from the Football Queensland competitions team.

It’s unfortunate that issues with governing bodies has caused so much confusion in the football community and threatening to majorly disrupt football in Queensland. We hope there is a quick, clear resolution to this and that we get strong leadership with football as the number 1 priority.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact any of the committee members.
