Graham Fyfe, MSHS  Football Excellence Support Officer- “…We’ve got the facilities, the coaches, the programs,  the opportunities. But what I did notice was there was a lot of talented kids who couldn’t get to an NPL or local clubs for whatever reason, we want more kids touching the ball in good environments, It would be ideal for our kids to be at your club (LMFC), so outside of school they’re getting looked after. and when they’re at school they’re getting looked after”

Luis Melgar, LMFC Football Operations Manager- “We’ve been reflecting on the 10 years of the club (next year is our 10 year anniversary) , we’ve sat down recently on what’s next and part of that is our junior/youth base of the club. We got ourselves in a position of decent numbers in our MiniRoos and seniors. We’re now in a position to start to bring in some of these local kids through and give them access to club structure and creating good people through football.”

2021 Capital League 2 coaching update

Logan Metro Football Club have proactively and strategically restructured our Capital League football department to further progress the work started of creating sustained on-field success in a manner that reflects the clubs identity and philosophies. The process has also highlighted LMFC’s strong history of developing and promoting from within the club for key positions.

Current head coach (since 2017) and inaugural player Luis Melgar will move into a newly created role of Football Operations Manager. His core responsibilities include player retention, recruitment, welfare and off field development. Luis will also provide strong leadership to the full LMFC coaching staff and players, ensuring clear direction and continuation of the clubs identity, culture and plan. During his time as Head Coach,  the club experienced tremendous success including the 2019 Premiership, 2019 grand final appearance, Promotion into Capital League 2 and an incredible run into RD 5 of FFA Cup qualifying where we claimed some prestigious scalps along the way (notably Mt Gravatt and Taringa) before eventually falling 1-0 to NPL side Moreton Bay. All of this was achieved in a style and manner that highlights the clubs unique identity and culture.

Luis will also continue to work with the digital Content team on delivering quality content across all our platforms to continue telling our story and growing our brand.

Inaugural player and head coach since 2017, Luis Melgar will be transitioning into a newly created role

Current first team assistant coach Forbes Madau will move into the head coach role and oversee the day to day on field football responsibilities. An FFA qualified coach, Forbes has an eye for the tactical side of the game and proven experience in developing young talent. He’s previously held the head coach role at Logan City Kings (where he oversaw a derby win against LMFC) as well as several positions from under 6- under 18’s at Olympic FC, Albany Creek and Rochedale.

2021 Head Coach Forbes Madau

2020 reserves coach and inaugural player Saul Argueta will not continue in 2021 due to an increased work, study and family schedule. His reserves side finished 3rd scoring 47 goals in only 15 games. Saul also oversaw several reserve players push into the first team regularly.

Inaugural player and 2020 Reserves Coach, Saul Argueta

Claude Rebocho an assistant coach to Saul in 2020 will step up to the role of reserves coach for 2021. A former XXXX league player with Brisbane City and Taringa, Claude has played alongside some very notable local players including current Brisbane Roar head coach Warren Moon. He’s also working towards completing his C license.

2021 Reserves Coach, Claude Rebocho

Elmer Avilez our sports trainer currently employed by our physiotherapy partner All Sports Calamvale will also continue to provide support onsite at Compton Park in 2021

2019 Premiership winning reserves Captain Elmer will continue to provide physiotherapy support in 2021

We would like to thank Luis and Saul for their commitment and success they have helped bring to the club over the last few seasons. A strong foundation has been set and the future looks bright with our new coaching set up heading into 2021.

The rest of the coaching and support team will be announced in the coming weeks.

Trials begin on a December 1 at Gould Adam’s Park.

LATEST Corona virus COVID-19 update

A message from El Presidente, Samuel Escobar (12:00pm Thursday 30 July ,2020)-

Hello LMFC Family,

Hoping you and your families are well.

Myself and the rest of the committee wanted to provide an update on the current covid19 situation following three new cases recorded in Logan of novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The government has asked the community to  remain alert but not alarmed and the club will also be taking this approach.

Below are a few specific notes from the zoom call i attended with Football Brisbane and clubs last night PLUS some notes from Queensland Health

  • Players or staff who attend the schools (Parklands Christian College – Park Ridge and Chatswood Hills State School – YMCA Outside School Hours Care)  are  NOT permitted to participate in football until they are no longer required by QLD Health to self isolate
  • Any students who DO NOT attend the above institutions can continue to participate in sport as usual
  • players who themselves do not attend one of the above institutions but have teammates who do can continue to participate in football as usual, minus any players who attend the above institutions;
  • at this stage, QLD Health is not requiring the team mates of players who attend the above institutions to self-isolate.
  • Any individuals who were present at these locations at the relevant times are asked to immediately self-quarantine and contact 13 HEALTH.
  • Matches scheduled to take place this weekend will continue as fixtured, unless advised otherwise
  • we have to be more diligent with attendance registration (via the QR code located on the entry wall) as that is the tracing method for anyone infected . So our players and anyone attending the club MUST register in and out of our club or when they go away to other clubs. QR code registration list goes to FQ
  • continue to Do the 3-
    1. Wash your hands
    2. Keep your distance
    3. Download the COVIDSafe App
  • if you’re experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms, stay home and speak to your doctor about getting tested.

We’ll regularly be updating our LMFC family  if anything changes. You can keep updated with the governments response here-
https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-health-alert#how-to-protect-yourself-and-others

Thank you for your understanding, please follow all instructions from the relevant authorities and look after each other.

I know there is a lot of uncertainty in our community, but let’s stay calm and do our part. If you need to talk to someone , we are here to listen or there are places that we can refer you to

Together we are stronger

WOMENS TEAM COACHES + 2 WOMENS TEAMS AT LMFC IN 2020

Logan Metro FC is super proud and excited to announce Michael Ulstad as our women’s team head coach and Branden Turepu as his assistant coach.
The duo led our u18 boys academy in 2019 to their Grand Final and are committed to growing our women’s program, a priority of the LMFC committee in 2020 and delivering success on the field and off it

I’m excited for the opportunity LMFC has presented me with. I’m confident that with my experience on the pitch and development as a coach I can improve not only our players skill set but thier knowledge of the game.

Locking in Bran as my assistant was a must for me and with our success from last year we know we can continue to build and improve the women’s program and presence at the club.

I’m looking forward to the challenge and am hoping to see a lot of new faces who want to improve their game and be part of a team.

Kate Pursehouse will continue in the role as our women’s coordinator and is passionate about growing women’s football at LMFC.

We’re so pleased to have locked in Michael and Branden to our women’s program. After a successful year coaching the under 18 boys academy and leading them to the grand final, they hope to strengthen the quality of the women’s team and push for promotion, as well as attracting new female players to the club. Bringing years of experience with both coaching and playing, I look forward to seeing them in action and taking charge of our women’s program.

This year, Logan Metro will be registering for 2 teams in the Women’s City League competition so there will be plenty of opportunities for all players of all abilities to come and play for this amazing club.

The club is looking at having 2 women’s teams in 2020 for the first time! A team with a competitive focus and the other team with a more social focus, allowing the club to cater for female players of all abilities.
